New styling and remarkably spacious interior accommodations are among the innovations showcased in the Nordhavn 64. This yacht is of a size that maintains stout offshore capability while at the same time accommodating a lavish profile. Jim Leishman, Vice-President of Pacific Asian Enterprises (P.A.E.), has referred to the N64 as near-perfect.
The captain and mate can enjoy the pair of full-sized helm chairs in the commercial-like pilothouse that provides superb 360-degree visibility. Motion at sea is minimal, since the pilothouse is amidships. Four seats for crewmembers are aft of the helm chair and elevated, to provide the crew with the same all-encompassing view. A spacious flying bridge comes standard and it is nicely equipped with a Stidd helm seat, a refrigerator, a table and U-shaped settee that seats four.
The living area has the effect of being expanded to the outside, since the main saloon is connected to the aft cockpit; this is a feature shared by all Nordhavns. The cabin is wide and asymmetrical, with a large lounge chair plus two areas with settees and tables. On the starboard side, there is also a wide side deck.
An optional feature in the main saloon is a 42” plasma television, which can be installed on a lift system and can be hidden away; the lift system comes standard. For optimal entertainment, an optional Bose sound system can also be included.
Abundant granite counter space and home-style full-sized appliances adorn the galley, which could compete with any modern gourmet kitchen. A General Electric (GE) microwave/convection oven, oven and stove and trash compactor also come standard, along with a Miele dishwasher. The refrigerator/freezer with icemaker is a Sub Zero side-by-side, and it comes standard, as well. The utility room houses two front-load freezers to ensure plenty of food storage space for extended seafaring.
The Nordhavn 64 can travel 1600 nautical miles at 10½ knots, with a full load. When traveling at 9 knots her distance is close to 3,000 NMs. “Squat” effect and pitching motion are reduced and static stability is increased with the yacht’s hull form that features fuller aft sections; this is an enhancement of the modified full displacement design Nordhavn developed.
