As the groundbreaking work of Pacific Asian Enterprises (P.A.E.) evolved, the Nordhavn 57 met customer demands for a yacht with more contemporary styling. It is no longer in production, but it is available through brokerage services, such as Yacht Tech, Inc. The N57 is a passagemaker made to grace the finest yacht clubs and marinas in the world. Beautifully crafted, she has accommodations marked by luxury as well as spacious, modern design. At the hands of some of the best shipwrights in the world, she also has a seriousness that the saltiest of traditionalists embraces.
The result of building procedures, materials, and tooling approached with no compromise is the Nordhavn 57, a yacht with no movement of bulkheads, flexing of decks, or deterioration of gel coat finishes, even after being heavily used for years. The single-piece hull is a solid fiberglass structure. For added stiffness, cabins tops, sides, and decks are cored. Molded from stem to stern, the deck is a one-piece. Other parts of the N57 are produced in one piece with a sophisticated, multi-part mold, including the Portuguese bridge, wheelhouse, bulwarks, and lower deck. This method eliminates potential cracks and leaks and ensures that the structure is remarkably strong. There is a feel of craftsmanship and quality on the Nordhavn 57. Each detail is given commercial-like treatment, to ensure overall durability. For example, the railings, anchor rollers, stainless steel cleats, and all other hardware are made from extra heavy gauge materials.
Nordhavn quality is abundantly on display in the Nordhavn 57 pilothouse. Commercially inspired features are combined with the type of amenities found on the most luxurious of megayachts. The centerline helm seat provides superior visibility, and within easy reach are the navigation equipment and instrument panel. A settee and table are nearby so that guests can also enjoy comfortable seating as the captain takes command of the yacht.
The pilothouse’s location is particularly quiet and vibration-free. Sound levels are usually less than 65 dB when running at cruising speeds.
The fly bridge is an excellent place to be on the N57, weather permitting. It is accessed from the aft deck or pilothouse and provides superior visibility.
